During the past ten years, Reid was engaged in private law with the firms of Lewis,
White and Clay, P.C.; Graham and James; and Washington, Perito and Dubuc. She
specialized in litigation, environmental law, white collar crime and commercial law. For several
years, Reid served as an adjunct professor and constitutional scholar at the School of Public
Affairs of the American University in Washington, D.C. She has also taught at the West
Virginia University College of Law; Barnard College, Columbia University; the City
University of New York; and the State University of New York. Additionally, she has
published scholarly works in the areas of constitutional law, environmental law and African
and African-American studies.
Reid is a magna cum laude graduate of Tufts University. She holds a law degree
from Yale Law SChool; a masters degree in political science from U.C.L.A.; and a
doctorate in public law and government from Columbia University.
