Attorneys in Distress: Perspectives on the Problem
The practice of law can take a heavy toll on lawyers. Attorneys are
statistically more likely to struggle with depression, alcoholism and
substance abuse than the general public. These issues can have drastic
repercussions on lawyers’ personal and professional lives. These
problems and the legal profession’s response to them was the topic of
the Fortieth Annual Disciplinary Conference on May 14 at the Mayflower
Hotel.
On April 30, 2012 The Horizon Interactive Awards, a leading
international interactive media awards competition, announced the 2011
award winners to highlight this year’s “best of the best” in interactive

received a silver award in the Business to Business category, competing
with over 1000 entries from over 20 countries around world.
Judge Eugene Hamilton passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011. He was 78 years old. Judge Hamilton served as Chief Judge of the DC Superior Court from 1993 to 2000. The judge was known not only for his intellect and leadership, but also for his commitment to foster children, as he and his wife opened their home to numerous children over the years.
Heller’s attack on strong gun laws fails, in large part because of Brady Center testimony
A new Brady Center report, “Missing Guns: Lost and Dangerous” shows that licensed gun manufacturers nationwide “lost” an average of at least 18 firearms every day over the last two and a half years, according to a Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence analysis of new data released in August by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)
